Gaming with Rogues – DC Deckbuilding in March!

crisisdbgOn the third Saturday of every month, Rogues Gallery will host a casual gaming night – each month will focus on a different game. The game night will begin at 6:30 PM and run until 9:00 PM, when the store closes.

This month’s game is on March 19th, and the game is DC Deck-Building. Using the Cerebus engine, the DC Deck-Building game is one of our favorites, and it’s got a variety of different possibilities, from the stalwarts like Superman, Batman and Flash to more off-the-beaten path heroes like Booster Gold and Black Canary. There’s even a Forever Evil version where you play the villains!

So whether you’ve played DC Deck-Building before or just want to try it out, come join us for Gaming with Rogues! And don’t forget that with your Rogue Card, you can get 10% off on DC Deck-Building games from now until the next Gaming with Rogues selection is chosen!

Also, Gaming with Rogues is an open game night, so folks are welcome to play any game in our well-stocked boardgame and card game library or bring a favorite game of their own!

This month will also be close to our volunteer Gaming with Rogues coordinator Chris Jones’s birthday, so he’s bringing out some cake, and y’all should feel free to wish him a happy birthday! (But don’t feel like you have to let him win. 🙂

We’ll have drinks and snacks, and there will be tables set up for gaming. We have quite the game library in the back, but if you’ve got something you’d like to play, feel free to bring it with you!

Reading with Rogues – February

preacherOur monthly graphic novel club continues in February with Preacher Book One!

Every second Tuesday, we hold our graphic novel reading club! As of February, we’re moving it to the store, we’ll have light snacks and some drinks available, but folks are welcome to bring their own snacks or drinks if they wish!

The next meeting is on Tuesday, February 9th, starting at 7 PM and running until we run out of stuff to talk about (usually about 9:00 PM). Folks can come and go as they please, and we should have plenty of room.

The managers of Rogues Gallery will be on hand to talk about comics and hopefully get everybody chatting… we’re hoping to extend the vibe of our New Comics Wednesdays to everyone who maybe doesn’t get a chance to talk comics with their regular group of friends, or just can’t get enough comics talk.

Each meeting of the graphic novel club will have a book we choose as a headliner. We’ll offer a 15% discount on that book from the time of the announcement to the night of the graphic novel club. While we’re perfectly happy to have you bring one you already bought, we’re hoping folks will choose to buy this book from us rather than download it digitally or buy it somewhere else, to help us keep funding these get-togethers.

This month we’re doing Preacher Book One The 15% off sale starts effective now, and will run until we announce the next book. (It’s always a good idea to remind the clerk at checkout about the discount.) (Use your Rogue Card to get an additional 10% off!)

We’d love for folks to RSVP on the Facebook event page just so we can have a rough headcount, but walk-ins are absolutely welcome. And while we’ll focus the discussions around the graphic novel of the month, we’ll almost certainly be talking about other comics and graphic novels. Also, while this is a mature readers book, we are a family-friendly store, so we’ll need to tone down the conversation if younger patrons are at the store during the discussion.

We look forward to talking comics with you!

Gaming with Rogues – Machi Koro in January!

MachiKoroGAME_boxMock_flat.1On the third Monday of every month, Rogues Gallery will sponsor a casual gaming night – each month will focus on a different game. The game night will begin at 7:00 PM and run until 9:00 PM (or longer if needed).

We took December off for holiday busy times, but we’re back in January with one of our favorite boardgames!

We’ll be playing at Lamppost Coffee in Round Rock!

This month’s game is on January 18th, and the game is Machi Koro. Armed only with your trusty die and a dream, you must grow the sleepy town of Machi Koro into the largest city in the region. You will need to collect income from developments, build public works, and steal from your neighbors coffers (just make sure they aren’t doing the same to you)! They say you can’t build Rome in a day, but Machi Koro will be built in under 30 minutes!

So whether you’ve played Machi Koro before or just want to try it out, come join us for Gaming with Rogues! And don’t forget that with your Rogue Card, you can get 10% off on Machi Koro from now until the next Gaming with Rogues selection is chosen!

Holiday Hours – December

maxsantacolorWe’ll be closing early a few days in December and closed completely a couple days so that our staff can celebrate the holidays.

On Saturday, December 19th, we’ll close at 7 PM instead of 9 PM for our staff holiday party.

On Thursday, December 24th (Christmas Eve), we will close at 7 PM (and we will have new comics that week). On Thursday, December 31st (New Year’s Eve) we will close at 7 PM (and we will have new comics that week).

We will be closed entirely on Friday, December 25th and Friday, January 1st.

Reading with Rogues January – Star Wars!

Star_Wars_Trade_Paperback_Volume_1_CoverWe’re back! We took a couple months off during the holidays, but our monthly graphic novel club is back and we’re starting off with a crowd-pleaser, Marvel’s first collection of Star Wars!

Every second Tuesday, we hold our graphic novel reading club! This month, we’ll be holding it at Sushi Nini in Round Rock! (Don’t worry if you’re not a sushi fan, they’ve got tempura and teriyaki stuff too!)

The next meeting is on Tuesday, January 12th, starting at 7 PM and running until we run out of stuff to talk about (usually about 9:30 PM).

This month we’re doing Star Wars Volume 1: Skywalker Strikes. The 15% off sale starts effective now, and will run until we announce the next book.

Also, for the time being, since there’s alcohol available, it’s later at night and we’re probably going to be offering graphic novels that are aimed at an older audience, we’re making this an 18 and up event. If parents want to bring their 15-17 year olds, that’s OK, but just be aware that we may be talking about mature subject matter in the discussions.

We look forward to talking comics with you!
