Kelly-Sue-DeConnickFor our next Ladies Night, we actually have a pretty cool surprise. We will have BITCH PLANET and PRETTY DEADLY writer Kelly Sue DeConnick skyping in on Tuesday, June 7th! Ladies Night will start at 7 and run until around 9. Kelly Sue DeConnick will Skype in at about 7:30 for a short discussion, so don’t be late or you might miss out! As always, we talk about all things geeky, from comics to games to movies. Moms! You are welcome to bring your little ones! Let me know in advance, and I’ll print out some colouring pages to keep them busy while you mingle 🙂

Got questions for Kelly Sue DeConnick? Bring them with you or email them ahead of time to roguesgallerytx@gmail.com with “Ladies Night Questions” – we’ll do a drawing of everyone in attendance to win signed Bitch Planet hardcovers and sets of Bitch Planet #1-5, and if you submit a question, we’ll throw an extra entry into the drawing for you!

We’ll have drinks and snacks, and there will be tables set up for gaming. We have quite the game library in the back, but if you’ve got something you’d like to play, feel free to bring it with you!

I would also like to add that we do not discriminate here at Rogues Gallery. If you identify as female you are most welcome.

Food. Games. Good company. KELLY-SUE DECONNICK. What more could you ask for?

We’d love it if y’all could RSVP on the Facebook event, just so we can get a rough headcount.

Hope to see you there! 🙂

But that’s not all! DC will release all their comics for the week early, including Scooby Apocalypse #1 and Justice League #50 (which reveals the Joker’s real name for the first time!) Marvel is getting in on the action too by releasing all of their comics for the week at midnight as well! Not interested in DC’s Rebirth? Come out and grab the Marvel releases for the week, including the return of Steve Rogers in Captain America: Steve Rogers #1!

We’ll be having a comics party that night as well! We’ll be recording a special live installment of the Roguecast from 10 PM – 11 PM and we’d love to have our customers and fans come on to talk about their favorite comics, their thoughts on Rebirth, Captain America or whatever else they’d like to chat about!

Reading with Rogues – April

readingaprilOur bimonthly graphic novel club will meet in April to talk about our Reading with Rogue selections for March (Descender Vol 1 TP) and April (Batman The Dark Knight Returns)

Every second Tuesday of alternate months, we’ll hold our graphic novel reading club! The next meeting is on Tuesday, April 12th, starting at 6:30 PM and running until we run out of stuff to talk about (or 9 PM, when the store closes). Folks can come and go as they please, and we should have plenty of room.

We’ll talk about our graphic novel selections for the past two months, as well as whatever other comics and related pop culture we deviate into! Got a favorite graphic novel you’ve read and want to talk about? Bring it with you!

The managers of Rogues Gallery will be on hand to talk about comics and hopefully get everybody chatting… we’re hoping to extend the vibe of our New Comics Wednesdays to everyone who maybe doesn’t get a chance to talk comics with their regular group of friends, or just can’t get enough comics talk.

Every month, we do a monthly “Reading with Rogues” selection, and that graphic novel is 15% discount off for that month. if you’ve got a Rogue Card, it’s 25% off!

We’d love for folks to RSVP on the Facebook event page just so we can have a rough headcount, but walk-ins are absolutely welcome. And while we’ll focus the discussions around the graphic novel of the month, we’ll almost certainly be talking about other comics and graphic novels.

We look forward to talking comics with you!

Magic the Gathering Prerelease on Sunday, April 3rd!

mtgshadowsFIRST ROUND BEGINS AT NOON – SECOND ROUND BEGINS AT 4:00 – PRE-REGISTRATION STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

Rogues Gallery will be holding two prerelease events for Magic: The Gathering’s new set, Shadows Over Innistrad, on Sunday, April 3rd! We recommend that you call or email ahead to preregister, because we have limited space and tend to fill up well before the day of the event itself. We have room for 16 players in the first event, beginning at noon, and 16 players in the second event, beginning at 4:00 PM. If space allows, we are happy to allow players to play in both prerelease tournaments… players will have to buy-in to both tournaments, you cannot carry over cards or decks from the first prerelease into the second. In addition, of late we’ve had folks sign up and not show up, so if you don’t get in on your preferred time, you are welcome to sign up as an alternate or to come in on the day and try to get available spaces.

Registration will begin at noon on April 3rd. We’ll begin the first event at 12:30 with 30 minutes to construct your decks, and the pre-release will run 3 rounds from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM or so. Please note that if you are preregistered, you must arrive by 12:15 to claim your spot or it will be opened up for walk-ins.

The second tournament will begin registration at 4:00, and the tournament will start as close to 4 PM as we can manage, with 30 minutes to construct your decks. Please note for those preregistered, you must arrive by 4:00 to claim your spot or it will be opened up for walk-ins.

Prerelease packs will be $25.99 plus tax. You must buy a pack for each tournament you enter, and we will reserve color of pack on a first-come, first-serve basis.

We will allow walk-ins for both tournaments if the space is not filled, but we encourage preregistration, as we generally fill up fairly quickly. In addition, because there are two events, and because the second event may run later than our usual closing time, we won’t be able to offer trading or casual place space after the tournaments end.

Prize support will be in the form of Shadows Over Innistrad boosters. We award boosters for each round you win. The remainder are divided up into first, second and third prizes.

In addition to the main prerelease tournament events, if space allows, we will offer open dueling, allowing any player who wants to play to purchase Shadows Over Innistrad Intro Packs to play against each other, as well as prerelease tournament players who are between matches.

D&D Adventurers League – Dare to Enter the Death House!

curseofstrahdADVENTURERS WANTED!

Thursday nights, we run Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition at the store from 7 PM – 9 PM! In March, we’ve got a new game starting up, tying into the Curse of Strahd, the return of the fan-favorite gothic horror setting for D&D, with a new adventure called The Death House!

Death House is the name given to an old row house in the village of Barovia. The house has been burned to the ground many times, only to rise from the ashes time and again-by its own will or that of Strahd. Locals give the building a wide berth for fear of antagonizing the evil spirits believed to haunt it.

D&D Adventurers League runs every Thursday night from 7pm to 9pm, and if you get there a little early, you can chat with the DM about making a character (or just jump right into the action with a pre-generated character). D&D Adventurers League is both for new players and returning players of all stripes. You can even come out just to watch and see how it works.

All you need to bring is a pencil, some paper, and maybe some D&D dice!
