We’re having a sale on Labor Day – Monday September 4th. We’ll be offering 15% off on all role-playing game books, Games Workshop games, board and non-collectible card games and graphic novels (including manga) all day September 5th, so come in and pick up those games or graphic novels that have been tempting you for a while!
In addition, we’ll be offering 25% off on all Batman: Animated Series action figures!
If you haven’t already gotten your Rogue Card, this would be a good time to do it, as Rogue Card members will get an additional 5% (for a total of 20% and 30%, respectively) off on Labor Day!
10th Anniversary/Grand Re-Opening Party in August!
It’s been 10 years (and change) since Rogues Gallery Comics & Games opened, and coincidentally, we also just made our big move, so we’re having a grand re-opening party and 10th anniversary celebration on the same day!
On Saturday, August 12th, we’ll be celebrating with an all-day party for kids, adults, and everybody in between! All day long, we’ll have 15% off on everything in the store, and we’ll be running events during the day as well!
Early on, we’ll have custom kids activity books with comic-related word searches and crossword puzzles, and we’ll be running demos of the kid-friendly Kaiju dice game King of Tokyo. Midday, we’ll offer a playtest/demo of upcoming card game Die in Space and an RPG to be determined (we’re working on a few things, we’ll see what materializes).
And then, from 6-8 PM, it’s the return of comic book trivia! Done pub style, participants will be in teams of four, and we’ll have several categories and questions designed by the Rogues! Expect a lot of DC/Marvel superheroes, but y’all might want to make sure you’ve got some folks versed in indie comics as well. You can sign up ahead of time by sending an email to roguesgallerytx@gmail.com (either as a team, a partial team, or on your own, and we’ll put you into full teams on the day) or you can just show up by 5:45 PM to participate! We’ll have prizes, including the always-coveted Comics Trivia Champion trophy.
Gaming with Rogues – Hero Realms
On the third Saturday of every month, Rogues Gallery will host a casual gaming night – each month will focus on a different game. The game night will begin at 6:30 PM and run until 9:00 PM, when the store closes.
This month’s game is on August 19th, and we’ll be hosting Hero Realms!
Hero Realms is a fantasy-themed deck-building game that is an adaptation of the award-winning Star Realms game. The game includes basic rules for two-player games, along with rules for multiplayer formats such as Free-For-All, Hunter, and Hydra.
Each player starts the game with a ten-card personal deck containing gold (for buying) and weapons (for combat). You start each turn with a new hand of five cards from your personal deck. When your deck runs out of cards, you shuffle your discard pile into your new deck. An 80-card Market deck is shared by all players, with five cards being revealed from that deck to create the Market Row. As you play, you use gold to buy champion cards and action cards from the Market. These champions and actions can generate large amounts of gold, combat, or other powerful effects. You use combat to attack your opponent and their champions. When you reduce your opponent’s score (called health) to zero, you win!
So whether you’ve played Hero Realms before or just want to try it out, come join us for Gaming with Rogues! And don’t forget that with your Rogue Card, you can get 10% off on Hero Realms or any of its expansions from now until the end of August!
Also, Gaming with Rogues is an open game night, so folks are welcome to play any game in our well-stocked boardgame and card game library or bring a favorite game of their own!
Rogues Gallery Queertastic Ladies Night!
WE’RE HERE. WE’RE QUEER. WE’RE FULL OF EXISTENTIAL FEAR. IT’S ROGUES GALLERY’S FIRST LGBTQIA+ LADIES NIGHT!
August is Pride here in Austin, so Teala thought we’d have a little celebration on Saturday, August 5th starting at 8 PM! ^_^ Come decked out in your Pride gear, and let’s party!
Open to ALL members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Allies are also welcome, naturally ^_^
We should specify that this is a lady/lady identifying only event. We will be having a big Pride celebration at the end of the month, and that will be open to all genders. Sorry, boys ?
Let’s do 16+ for this one.
As always, pretty please RSVP on the Facebook event, just so I can get a rough headcount.
Hope to see you there! 🙂
Game Space: Rules & Reservations
Please Note: Due to COVID, all in-store gaming is currently suspended. We will update when it is safe to make changes.
We have two standing game tables available for free play, as long as they aren’t reserved for other use.
Standard reserved times include Monday night from 6 PM – 9 PM (Heroclix), Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night from 6 PM – 9 PM (D&D Adventurers League), and Friday night from 6 PM – 10 PM (Magic The Gathering). There are also quarterly events like our Magic prereleases, irregular events like Free Comic Book Day, Free RPG Day, D&D 101 events, and more. It’s best to call and double-check before assuming tables will be free.
Game Table Reservations:
The tables are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, you can also reserve the tables up to a month in advance, just give us a call or email to reserve the space.
Organized Play:
We support organized play for Heroclix, Dungeons & Dragons and Magic the Gathering at present.
We are happy to support more organized play if there is an interest, and can order organized play kits if you have a group that is interested in purchasing them for use at the store. If we can get a big enough group for organized play, Rogues Gallery will provide organized play kits and prizes, although we will at that point ask that anyone be allowed to play in tournaments.
In-Store Gaming Rules:
1. We’re a family store – please keep cursing/swearing to a minimum – even if a red dragon just ate your favorite character.
2. Keep other shoppers in mind when you’re playing – We want you to enjoy yourself, but make sure and keep shopping aisles clear and keep the noise level reasonable.
3. Food is allowed (within reason), we just ask you to be careful not to spill on the product, tables, other gamers, etc.
4.We expect everyone to be a courteous winner and a gracious loser, especially if you’re playing with strangers. A little friendly banter is fine, but smack talk and whining will not be tolerated.
5. Showing up a little early is encouraged. It’s important that our staff is able to close up on time and get home, so we try not to run gaming late if possible.
6. Clean up after yourself. Trash cans are in the bathroom and up at the counter.
Staffers’ and DMs’ decisions are final. If you have an issue, feel free to email or call the management, but arguing with the staff or DM at the time is not acceptable.
Breaking these rules can result in a warning, a temporary suspension of table privileges, or a ban on future use of game tables, at the discretion of management.
P.S. We’d like to ask that folks not use the tables for sitting and reading, to keep them available for use in playing board, card, and role-playing games.
On the third Saturday of every month, Rogues Gallery will host a casual gaming night – each month will focus on a different game. The game night will begin at 6:30 PM and run until 9:00 PM, when the store closes.
This month’s game is on July 22nd, and we’ll be hosting King of Tokyo as part of Iello’s Organized Play program! Play mutant monsters, gigantic robots and other monstrous creatures, rampaging the city and vying for position as the one and only King of Tokyo! Combine your dice to gather energy, heal your monster or just slap the other monsters down! Spend your energy to trigger permanent or one-shot special powers: a second head, body armor, nova death ray… Stop at nothing to become the King of Tokyo… but that’s when the real trouble begins for you!
Everyone who plays will get a free Fish Market card, two players will win Broken Token Lightning energy packs, and one lucky winner will walk away with Rozy Pony, the Kaiju Pony of Doom! Plus, the winner will be eligible to play in the King of Tokyo Nationals in 2018!
So whether you’ve played King of Tokyo before or just want to try it out, come join us for Gaming with Rogues! And don’t forget that with your Rogue Card, you can get 10% off on King of Tokyo, King of New York, or any of the expansions from now until the end of March!
Also, Gaming with Rogues is an open game night, so folks are welcome to play any game in our well-stocked boardgame and card game library or bring a favorite game of their own!
Cypher System – Predation Demo
Come out for a demo of the Cypher System game Predation on Saturday, August 5th from 11 AM – 1 PM!
Welcome to the Cretaceous. Our ancestors won’t climb down from the trees for another 66 million years, but here we are now. Time travel seemed like a good idea. Exploring the ancient world. Building. Creating an entire society here in the jungles of our primordial Earth. Until those SATI guys messed it all up. We’ve got gear. We’ve got guns. We’ve even bioengineered a few dinos to our liking. And that’s good, because we’ll need it all to survive. History says there’s an asteroid headed our way, and there’s no one left alive who knows how to get back to the future.
Predation includes:
A complete, ready-to-play science-fiction game world for the Cypher System, with a detailed history, scores of fascinating locations, new gear and technologies, and a variety of factions and conflicts to drive your story.
More than 20 new creatures and NPC types, from the snuggly nerezza to the unpredictable lab-grown supersauri. Encounter teslasaurs, cyberdrones, and genetically engineered spiders, plus dinosaurs of all descriptions.
New character types and abilities. Be a Volcanic Karn who Self-Evolves, an Empirical Tec who Plays God, or perhaps a Daring Pteryx Who Walks with Dinosaurs.
Rules for dinosaur companions. Choose a ceratopsian, pterosaur, early mammal, ornithomimid—even a raptor or tyrannosaur. You’ll want the help and companionship as you explore the dangerous wilds of Cretaceous Grevakc!”
Players do not need to bring anything but enthusiasm!

Magic the Gathering Prerelease in July
FIRST ROUND BEGINS AT NOON – SECOND ROUND BEGINS AT 4:00 – PRE-REGISTRATION STRONGLY RECOMMENDED
Rogues Gallery will be holding two prerelease events for Magic: The Gathering’s new set, Hour of Devastation, on Sunday, July 9th! We recommend that you call or email ahead to preregister, because we have limited space and tend to fill up well before the day of the event itself. We have room for 16 players in the first event, beginning at noon, and 16 players in the second event, beginning at 4:00 PM. If space allows, we are happy to allow players to play in both prerelease tournaments… players will have to buy-in to both tournaments, you cannot carry over cards or decks from the first prerelease into the second. In addition, of late we’ve had folks sign up and not show up, so if you don’t get in on your preferred time, you are welcome to sign up as an alternate or to come in on the day and try to get available spaces.
Registration will begin at noon on July 9th. We’ll begin the first event at 12:30 with 30 minutes to construct your decks, and the pre-release will run 3 rounds from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM or so. Please note that if you are preregistered, you must arrive by 12:15 to claim your spot or it will be opened up for walk-ins.
The second tournament will begin registration at 4:00, and the tournament will start as close to 4 PM as we can manage, with 30 minutes to construct your decks. Please note for those preregistered, you must arrive by 4:00 to claim your spot or it will be opened up for walk-ins.
Prerelease packs will be $25.99 plus tax. You must buy a pack for each tournament you enter.
We will allow walk-ins for both tournaments if the space is not filled, but we encourage preregistration, as we generally fill up fairly quickly. In addition, because there are two events, and because the second event may run later than our usual closing time, we won’t be able to offer trading or casual place space after the tournaments end.
Prize support will be in the form of Hour of Devastation boosters. We award boosters for each round you win. The remainder are divided up into first, second and third prizes.
In addition to the main prerelease tournament events, if space allows, we will offer open dueling, allowing any player who wants to play to purchase Hour of Devastation Planeswalker Decks to play against each other, as well as prerelease tournament players who are between matches.
